2021 Charity Support

Simpson Associates’ chosen charity for 2021 is MIND, the mental health charity. This past year, the coronavirus pandemic has had, and continues to have, a huge impact on people’s mental health, and so now more than ever we’re committed to supporting the work of MIND to improve mental health and wellbeing.

MIND provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.  Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. But hundreds of thousands of people are still struggling. MIND believe no one should have to face a mental health problem alone. They’ll listen, give support and advice, and fight your corner.   For more information on the work MIND does, or to access their services go to: mind.org.uk

Throughout 2021, we will also be fundraising and supporting local charities, the first of which was donating to the Woodhead Emergency Vehicle Appeal. This involved Simpson Associates contributing towards the Mountain Rescue Team purchasing a much needed support vehicle, which is crucial to enable them to continue the life saving work they do.

Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team is one of seven Mountain Rescue Teams based in the Peak District.  It is run entirely by volunteers and funded by donations and grants that the team have to fundraise for, alongside being on call 24×7 for anyone that requires the rescue services of the team.  The team not only operates in the mountains but provides support to the Police and Ambulance services in semi-rural areas; often searching for vulnerable missing people and rescuing injured mountain bikers.  The team also operates a Water Rescue Team and get involved in flooding incidents.

A charity very close to our hearts – Giles Horwood, MD at Simpson Associates is one of the volunteers who gives up his free time to be on call and assist in rescue operations.
