Simpson Associates is delighted to be celebrating their 30 year anniversary. Founded in March 1991, Simpson Associates are very proud of their 30 year journey.

Initially founded in March 1991 as an AS/400 consultancy and the world of green screen terminals, it was not long before a floppy disk dropped on to the desk of founders John Simpson and Mark White from a company called Cognos, which introduced them to Impromptu and PowerPlay and the world of multi-dimensional analysis and cubes.
Soon after, the focus shifted to the delivery of Business Intelligence services as organisations were looking for easier ways of getting information from the green screens of their AS400s. Through the nineties and early 2000s – given the millennium bug did not arrive and the systems of the nineties kept on running, the business focused on developing BI solutions over many of the ERP systems of the time, including Movex, JD Edwards, Infor, System 21 to name a few. During this time, they helped many organisations gain huge insights into their businesses. Customers would be heard saying they were taking their cubes for a drive as, for the first time, they were able to have easy access to the data that previously had been locked away and was difficult to access.
Over the years, Simpson Associates has also embraced the delivery of budgeting and forecasting solutions, particularly for the Office of Finance when Cognos added that capability to their toolset.
In the mid 2000s, as Microsoft started to emerge as a serious player in the BI and analytics space, the business further expanded and started to deliver solutions based on the Microsoft technologies, particularly SQL Server and the BI components such as Analysis and Reporting Server and then more recently evolving to the Azure cloud technologies.
As the importance of data and the value of having data available in the right format and at the right time became vital to clients, Simpson Associates continued to evolve their solutions and services. As organisations are adopting the cloud and the benefits that this brings, they continue to work alongside them and be their trusted partner.

In July 2018 the company reached another milestone when a management buyout was completed by Giles, Darren, Rachel and Angeline, with John and Mark retiring.
“Over the 30 years there have been around 120 people employed by Simpson Associates. Each and every one of those have contributed to the success of the business, and we would not be the thriving company that we are without them.”
