Firmly established as a leading supplier of metallurgical chemicals to the higher quality segments of the foundry industry world - wide, Foseco plays an important role in the automotive, construction and engineering casting markets as well as on environmental issues. A typical and significant example is the automotive sector - a dynamic, fast-moving market where the drive is for ever-higher performance specifications.

Innovation is one of Foseco's core strengths and Development Centres have been established in areas of work where 'state-of-the-art' product technology exists. This enables Foseco to work in close partnership with its customers to develop new products and technologies at the forefront of the industry.

Foseco, in the process of implementing J D Edwards One World solution, as part of the wider business intelligence project, needed a supplier who could handle the whole project.

Of course this included all the technical aspects of development, both operational data and business information.

The Benefits

The company uses a Cognos based Business Intelligence (BI) application over their main line of business software, J. D. Edwards One World.

The BI application has cut the time spent by each company salesman in preparing monthly reports from two days to a few hours.

Information is presented in a standardised format on-screen, making it easier to salesmen, product managers and Senior Management, each of who have access to different levels of information.

The initial application was for the Sales Department but deployment of BI has now been extended to the finance department and will be rolled out across Europe. And next, the solution will be deployed into the 34 countries to which Foseco sells its products, providing a common and robust reporting and analysis infrastructure.
